"DHS and DOJ Interim Final Rule Barring from Asylum Eligibility Individuals Who Transit Through a Third Country Without Seeking Protection

DHS and DOJ interim final rule establishing mandatory bar to asylum eligibility for individuals who transit through a third country and then enter or attempt to enter the U.S. across the southern border without having applied for protection in at least one of the third countries through which they transited. The rule effective 7/16/19. The new bar to asylum eligibility applies only prospectively to those who enter or arrive in the U.S. on or after 7/16/19."
